Machine Learning Scientist, Intel AI Lab

Ron Banner is a researcher at the Artificial Intelligence Platform Group (AIPG) at Intel, where he leads multiple research efforts in collaboration with the Technion. He has completed his B.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees at the Department of Electrical Engineering at the Technion in 2001 and 2006, respectively. From 2006 to 2016 he was a senior researcher at HP Labs, collaborating with Technion faculty and students on a wide range of areas, including optimization, image analysis, graph theory, and mathematical programming. In 2017 he joined Intel as a researcher, promoting basic research on AI acceleration with commercial applications to Intel’s neural processor products. Ron received the Best Paper Award (as the lead author) at the prestigious IEEE International Conference on Network Protocols. He is a recipient of the Jury Award for Outstanding Achievements, Miriam and Aharon Gutwirth Award for Ph.D. Studies, Prof. Andrew Viterbi Fellowship for Outstanding Graduate Students, and Gutwirth Award for MSc Studies. He has served as a technical program committee member in several international conferences and symposia, including IEEE WiOpt during the years 2010-2014. He was a lecturer, teaching assistant, and project supervisor at the EE faculty at the Technion during the years 2001-2012.
